A BRIEF HISTORY

The name Barangay Mabolo was named after fruit-bearing trees called Mabolo which grew abundantly in this area during the Spanish occupation. The fruit is delicious, sweet-smelling and in tempting red. There is no explanation how tree got its name. Old-timers in the barangay will tell you that the Spaniards were the ones responsible in giving
the name of the barangay which the folk adopt up to now.

Barangay Mabolo is the gateway to the northern part of the Cebu province. It is one of the most progressive urban barangays.

 


Barangay Mabolo is not just a place. Although it is located in the center most part in the queen city of the South (Cebu City, Philippines), it is citizens comprised of very active residents in the community and  the church,  St. Joseph the Patriarch Parish.Luckily, it is situated in the most urbanized area in Cebu and in the Philippines which gives it luxury of having a walking distance on most of the establishments like Malls, Banks, Schools, Markets, Churches and other great places in the city.

St. Joseph the Patriarch Mabolo Parish Church. 

St. Joseph Parish Grounds, Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City  is very busy on the first day of the month of May as it sets for Fiesta.

Vendors of various products are now setting their stalls and booth on their designated rented posts to sell to local Parishioners.

The Ferris wheel together with other carnival facilities and features are now ready being set up in the place and will start when evening strikes.

Nightly activities includes Opening Salvo, Miss Teen Mabolo,  DYHP DRAMA PRESENTATION, CBP & Neighboring Barangays' Night, Cultural Presentation of Mabolo Elementart School & National High school, Dance Sports/ Modern Dance Contest, Live Band Concert, Variety Show/ Raffle Draw,SK Night, and etc.
